Best Audio and Graphics for Viva Pinata: Party Animals

19th November 2007 - Viva Pinata: Party Animals got the party started at the Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) Awards on the weekend, taking out Best Audio and Best Graphics. The candy-fuelled game, developed by Krome Studios, won over judges with its vibrant and deliciously appetizing visuals and its cranking party soundtrack.

Designed for families, including children aged six and up, the game has proven popular among many age groups, a fact which Krome Studios CEO Robert Walsh attributes in part to its award-winning features.

Viva Pinata: Party Animals recreates the detail and texture of crepe paper in the piñata characters, giving a delightfully tactile feel that brings the characters to life. This is teamed with a high octane soundtrack and dozens of imaginative action-packed mini-games.

Mr Walsh, said he was delighted to see his team receive the recognition they deserved at the GDAA awards.

“Producing the follow-up to Viva Pinata was a real challenge because the original game was so popular,” Mr Walsh said. “We wanted to make sure we could deliver everything gamers loved about the original but with even more bang for their buck. These awards demonstrate how well the team delivered on that brief and the game speaks for itself – it looks and sounds fantastic.”
